WEC2013 Update24 installation hangs on shared source installation RRS feed

    I am trying to install update 24 (October 2015) for platform builder but it keeps hanging because it can't find the shared source update.

    Even when I check "Allow downloading for all files" the "Installation Source File" window keeps popping back up again.

    I am upgrading from Wave2 (September 2015).

    I have downloaded the update from the myoem portal on the Microsoft website.

    I am using Visual Studio 2013 on a Windows 8 PC.

    Where can I get the installation source file from?

    or is there a way to skip installation of the shared source?

    The Wave 2 shared source can't be downloaded as part of the standard update. You have to get it from the Windows Embedded  Compact 2013 - September 2015 .iso from MSDN subscriber downloads or MyOEM.

    Extract or mount the .iso and it will be at W2\OS\sharedsource - you have to choose "Browse" on the screen you're showing.

    If you don't want to install the shared source you can choose to modify your installation rather than update and uncheck "Shared Source".
