.NET Framework 2.0, Problem while sending Fax. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

We're using the Microsoft Fax Service on our SBS server.

And the setup is that each user has access to the shared fax driver in the form of a printer added to their list of printers. When you need to fax something, you send the document to this 'printer' which then opens a fax wizard for you to follow.

We have an application developed in C# .NET Framework 2.0

When we try to print to this printer from this application, we tend to get a variety of different errors from this application. We've had our application sudden shutdown, hanging, fatal error, insufficient memory etc.

When we look at some of the errors it comes from mscorwks.dll.

    faulting module mscorwks.dll, version 2.0.50727.1433

    Any ideas on this one?

  • Hmya, you are running unmanaged code when you use the faxing service.  Maybe you P/Invoke something wrong, maybe the service itself is unstable.  In true unmanaged code style, memory is getting corrupted and Mscorwks.dll is the canary that is singing the death song.  Troubleshooting this is going to be tough, it is impossible to do so from your post.
