Change domain address RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi - I need change email address from alias@abcd.com to alias@xyz.com. I have added new email address policy to add the new email address alias@xyz.com and new accepted domain. My question is

in exchange 2016, the certificate is issued to mail.abcd.com and I intended to continue use it as mail server setting. Do I need get a certificate for xyz.com if I switch to xyz.com as primary email address?

  • Certificate not required, unless you are changing urls of autodiscover, ews etc

  • if you change the primary address, you need to do ether deploy a http autodiscover.xyz.com to https redirect (HTTP 302) to autodiscover.abcd.com (there are many guids out there and depending on your environemnt, this can be build realy easy) or you have to add the autodiscover.xyz.com as an additonal alternetive subject name (SAN) into your certificate.
