  • TP4: It´s possible to build a Windows + FULL GUI as a container? - Failed to process file in optimization with error:  is not a valid Win32 application. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800700C1)

I´m trying to create a container image using a full GUI win2012R2

    What i did:

    Dism /Export-Image /SourceImageFile:install.wim /SourceIndex:2 /DestinationImageFile:2012r2UpdatedSTDGUI.wim /DestinationName:"Windows Server 2012 R2 SERVERSTANDARD"

(without exporting index:2, the error was: "throw "'$WimPath' contains an unexpected number of images ...")

    Install-ContainerOSImage .\2012r2UpdatedSTDGUI.wim

IN this case, the error was:

Failed to process file in optimization with error:  is not a valid Win32 application. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800700C1)
    At C:\windows\system32\windowspowershell\v1.0\Modules\Containers\1.0.0.0\Containers.psm1:454 char:9

  • nope!

the wimpath parameter is mandatory but in many cases, the parameter can be omited because is the default, first one, etc

the problem arises several minutes after the begginig (is a 13 GB image), the progress bar is shown all the time and the error apperas more thant 10 minutes after the beggining

  • Hi, I tried with the "Install-ContainerOSImage" cmdlet but still get the same error. Any ideas if its possible to use GUI-Version-OS as container image?
