Mystery rating for a version of my App that doesn't even exist RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have one app, available only for Windows 8.1. On the ratings page of the developer portal, I have a new rating with the following details:

    12/23/2013 3:08 AM

    Market: Rest of World

    OS: Windows 8

    Package version: 2013.1117.501.3574

This package version does not exist. I don't even version my app using this particular scheme (which would appear date-based). As mentioned, the app isn't even built for Windows 8. And is "Rest of World" actually a market all its own?

This is troubling. Where did this come from? Is this completely erroneous data, perhaps resulting from the issues the portal has been experiencing as of late? Could someone have hacked my app and somehow submitted a rating for it?

    Please advise.

  • I created a support ticket for this and I was told that this was indeed a bogus rating and it would be removed from my dashboard data in the next few days. I was not given an explanation of how or why it happened.

So if you happen to land on this thread because you are experiencing a similar issue - contact support. They should be helpful in resolving it.
