Windows 10 IOT Enterprise, Using .Net Features RRS feed

  • Question

  • Good afternoon.

We are a company that develops industrial machines, today we have a built-in ecosystem that uses .net technology, we have windows services, an Asp Net MVC API and a Sql Server Express database.

Now we have a different demand, because we will purchase an industrial computer that can come with Windows 10 IOT Enterprise.

My question would be, will my old systems written with .net framework work?
Will I be able to install a sql server instance on it?

    Thank you very much.

  • Hello Paulo Marcelo Dalbosco,

Windows 10 IoT Enterprise is a full version of Windows 10 that delivers enterprise manageability and security to IoT solutions. Windows 10 IoT Enterprise shares all the benefits of the world-wide Windows ecosystem. It is a binary equivalent to Windows 10 Enterprise, so you can use the same familiar development and management tools as client PCs and laptops. So your old system written with .net framework should work on Windows 10 IoT enterprise, and sql server is also able to install on it.

    Best Regards,

    Michael

  • Windwos 10 support s .NET 4.7. Is your application using the older .NET 3.51? You should check the .NET version in Windows 10 to be sure the proper .NET version for your application has been installed. A utility like Asoft's .NET Version Detector can help: http://www.asoft.be/prod_netver.html
