Program Files folder in Win server 2008 not visible RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello Everyone, I have installed Win server 2008 - 64 bit, SQL server 2005 - 64 bit and SQL server 2008 - 64 bit. Everything works fine, but folder "program files" is NOT visible under C:\. Folder "Program Files(x86) is visible though. Am I missing something in registry? Is there any way I can fix this. I need this bcoz SQL server installs files inder C:\Program Files\MS SQL Server. Any help is highly appreciated. Thanks...

  • hi there,

by default when you install 64bit edition of windows, you will be getting 2 folder of program files

    one for x64bit applicaitons

    second for x86 / 32bit applications.

when ever you install 32bit applicaitons on 64 bit OS, the software will automaticaly will download into x86 program files folder.

can you please confirm this behavior in safe mode ?

  • Hello Sainath,

You are correct. By default two folders are installed. All 32 bit apps will go to Program Files(x86) folder and 64 bit will go to  Program Files folder. I have installed all 64 bit apps. Now Program Files for 64 bit is not visible. All 64 bit apps work fine, WIN server 2008 works fine. But the folder is not visible. I think i screwed up with the registry in some way. Does anyone know how to make the Program Files folder visible again?
