Dropped Oracle connections RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have an issue in .NET 1.0 using the System.Data.OracelClient.dll version 1.0.1088.0. Whenever an Oracle session is terminated by Oracle, the pooled connection is maintained as if it is a valid connection and incorrectly used by the application until it times out. I know there is a fix for this in .NET 1.1, but that does not help me as I am constrained and have to contunue using .NET 1.0 for now. My questions are:

    1. Can I just use the .NET 1.1 dll (1.1.4322.2038 which fixes the problem) in .NET 1.0, and if so how do I configure the application (web.config changes?) to do this?

    2. Is there an equivalent fix in .NET 1.0 for the dll? This is the preferred solution.

Note that many of the possible solutions are not viable due to time and environment issues - I am looking for a quick solution to this problem that has minimal impact on delivery and deployment across multiple environments that are not totally within my control.
