Number of critical path RRS feed

  • Question

  • All,

We can highlight critical tasks, then highlight critical path.

What i'd like to display is the total number of critical path in a schedule (in number format, not in visual style).

    Regard's.

  • Sorry, I see no way (no logic) to program that - I hope somebody will come up with a bright idea.

  • Apart from not seeing how this could be done, I really can't see what use it could be to know how may critical paths there are.  I'd love to know what use you can make of such information and then we might be able help in other ways.

  • Hi,

Do you mean the number of critical tasks or the total of the durations?

  • Hi,

None of them : i do know how many critical task there is in the project, as well as the durations.

I really mean the number of critical path. Let me explain myself. In the following sample, There are two critical paths, over a total of Three Paths.

Being aware of the number of critical path is a key indicator : it's not the same to play with 2 CP, than to deal with 12.

Why i'd want to have it in a number format is because when dealing with big projects, it's not as easy to se how many CP exists, and, second reason, i want to include this in a couple of reports.

    Thank's.

  • Hi,

I have tried to repeat the scenario on project pro , anyway if you have a single critical path it will just show single task per time slot if there is more than one critical path that means there is a point where you have more than one critical task at the same spot at the same time frame

Hope that my idea is clear
