Table-Value Parameters RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

We've recently switched to SQL 2008, and are looking to get good use out of the Table-Value Parameters (TVP) and MERGE features.

The server will get hit quite hard (I do mean this), and using a standard ORM that calls Insert/Update/Delete on a RBAR (row-by-agonising-raw) is a quick route misery!

We will be sticking with .NET 3.5 (SP1 etc.).

As I understand it, in the brave new world of WCF (ADO.NET) Data Services, the Entity Framework, Linq2SQL/Link2Entities, and any other sort of ORM, there currently is no support for TVPs?

If so, is there a 'recommended' approach to getting use out of TVPs with the .NET DAL other than roll-your-own ADO.NET (although I'm fine with that) code?

If I'm mistaken about the functionality of WCF/ADO.NET Data Services etc. could a kindly soul or two perhaps point me in a good direction?

I am most grateful for any comments/suggestions.

    Thank you
