VS2013 windows 8.1 javascript windows store app template missing RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

I have re-installed VS2013 professional on my machine, but there is no template for javascript windows store apps. I had used it in VS2012, but have uninstalled that version, is there any way i can get the template for javascript windows store apps in VS2013?

    Kind regards,

  • Do you see other Windows Store app templates?

Which OS are you running? Visual Studio 2013 supports Windows Store apps only on Windows 8.1, not on Windows 8.

I see the other templates, but no javascript.

I also installed the winlibjs (winlib_js.exe) but that didnt seem to help, still no template for javascript

  • Can you please confirm that you can see Windows Store templates? The language shown in your image all are used in other project types as well (or instead) of Windows Store apps.

If you can see other Windows Store app templates but not JavaScript ones then that sounds like a corrupted install and you may need to repair or reinstall.

If you don't see any Windows Store app templates then did you install Visual Studio 2013 on Windows 8.1 or did you install on Windows 8 and then upgrade to Windows 8.1? If you go to a powershell prompt and do Show-WindowsDeveloperLicenseRegistration are you able to successfully acquire a developer license?

  • Hi Rob

I can see the other windows store templates, from the other languages, just not the javascript one.

I had done an upgrade from windows 8 to 8.1, then only installed VS2013.

I have re-installed VS2013, but still the javascript option is not there, I re-installed 2012 premium, and its available there.

I ran the command in powershell, and yes was able to successfully acquire a developer license.
