.net framework 4.0, Microsoft.Office.Interop.Word 14.0.0.0, Office 2007 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I am rendering SSRS 2008 R2 reports into word 2007. Reading the work document using Microsoft.Office.Interop.Word 14.0.0.0 and performing some processing ove the word content.

it appears that reading word 2003 using Microsoft.Office.Interop.Word 10.0.0.0, was faster compared to above.

Especially, when I am using wordApp.Selection.InsertFile("file path") function.

Has any one come across this issue/ any suggestions?

    Thanks!

  • Hi Swati_SSRS,

How you measure the performance of the assembly? Do you have some program code to support your idea?

  • Hello,

I agree Office automation gets slower and slower with every version up.

I have benchmarked Table operation with VBA (just running cursor in every cells) between in word 2010 vs 2003 and saw 2010 was significantly (10 times or much) slow.

I have no good idea, best is downgrading the office application.

  • Suggestion:

Reprogram your tool to leverage the Office Open XML file format. Write the content directly to a file, rather than requiring the Word application to perform the task. You can find out more at OpenXMLDeveloper.org
