how to change from TLS 1.1 to 1.2 RRS feed

  • Question

  • i have .net application written in .net 4.0 and have win 2008 R2 server.

need to change from TLS from 1.1 to 1.2.

    how can i change?

do i need to change the .net framework to 4.5 to support TLS 1.2 or do i need to change anything on the win 2008R2 side?

    so my questions are:

    1. what needs to be done from win 2008R2 server perspective

    2. do i need to change the .net framework from 4.0 to 4.5

    3. what about the certificates(do i need new certificates or can i use existing certificates)

any help would be greatly appreciated.

    its very urgent.

  • On the server you need to have the necessary updates (if any) to support TLS 1.x.

MS has a complete walkthrough on how to upgrade legacy .NET apps to use TLS. You'll need to review their information to see which solution works for your needs.

You don't need a new cert. TLS is an encryption algorithm, not a cert validation tool.
