I'm getting an empty payload while trying to use the force feedback functionality RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've built a prototype that advertises itself as a PID device (with all of the reports described in the USB PID standard and the required Windows registry entries for force feedback support). Windows sees it as a force feedback device (FFedit.exe recognizes it, for example). But I only receive one OUT transfer from Windows immediately after enumeration and the payload is empty. No further OUT messages are received. I've tried sending things like RAM Pool reports unsolicited and they seem to be ignored. The PID standard isn't very clear on the sequence of messages exchanged between the device and the host but I would expect to get more than one empty message from the OS.
