Set default directory for adding files to resource in Visual Studio 2010

    Question

  • I have a resource file in Visual Studio 2010. When I click Add Resource|Add Existing File..., I get the "Add existing file to resources" dialog window, which defaults to C:\Windows\System32. I want to change this default directory, just like I can change the default directory for projects under Tools|Options. Any ideas?

  • Hi CigarDoug,

Thank you for posting in MSDN forum.

I tested this issue on my visual studio, and the same issue as yours.

And I'm afraid that we could not set the default folder for this "Add existing file to resources".

If you still want this feature, I suggest you could submit this feature on visual studio user voice: https://visualstudio.uservoice.com/forums/121579-visual-studio

Maybe we will see this feature in the future.

    Thank you for your understanding.

    Best Regards,
