SQL event logs wipes out after restart RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Recently we had the issue where we could not connect to SQL server due to blocking. As we were not able to connect, we had to restart the SQL service. But as we restarted the SQL service, SQL event logs wiped out. Due to which we could not analyse route cause.

Is there any option by which we could preserve the event logs even after sql service restart?

  • That is normal when you restart sql server it will create a new log file .You will be able to find the logs in SQL server installation root folder , which is located in the %Program-Files%\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1MSSQL\LOG\
