  •  Tod why it is a bad idea to use connection manager in script task?

Todd means that you have bunch of tasks and transformations which help you do many things, and using script task for usual tasks is counter-productive, obviously you can do anything in scripts, but you can do many things with other tasks which sometimes made more efficient. It is better to use script task when other tasks couldn't help you.

  • Needing to use a connection manager in a Script Task is typically a bad idea - you can usually accomplish what you need to do with stock tasks.  (Just as Reza counsels.)

You may want to look at this post for details on how to do it, even though you probably shouldn't be doing it.

  • When you are editing your script, goto the properties of the project > references and Check the box "Microsoft.SQLServer.DTSRuntimeWrap".
