File system corruption during wince 6.0 OS upgrade RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have 128 MB (1024 blocks) nand flash and IMX51 processor. I am reserving 832 Blocks (104 MB) for xldr + eboot + wince 6.0 OS. When file system driver calls FMD_GetBlockStatus, for any block less than 832 it says reserved. If we upgrade wince 6.0 OS ( size is around 10 MB) through eboot  is there any chance of losing existing file system data.

    Regards,
    Kiran

  • The only reasons that I can think of that the data would be effected are:

    1. OS extends past block 832 - that is the OS gets bigger
    2. The file system in the new OS is different from the previous version - that would only occur if you change it.

  • Hi,

How are you rebooting the system? Are you informing OS about the powerdown?

How did you ensure filesystem has finished accessing Flash while re-boot after upgrade is done?
