“Parameter webUrl is missing or invalid” (ErrorCode: 0x82000001) error while accessing SharePoint RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am trying to access GetWebCollection service of SharePoint which has both Windows and Forms Based Authentication enabled. With only windows authentication enabled, my java code works. But when I enable both authentication modes, after adding "X-FORMS_BASED_AUTH_ACCEPTED" header with value "f", it gives me following error:

    SEVERE: Encountered SOAP Fault : ::faultcode => soap:Server::faultstring => Exception of type 'Microsoft.SharePoint.SoapServer.SoapServerException' was thrown.::detail => Parameter webUrl is missing or invalid.0x82000001

    HTTP/1.1 500 Internal Server Error Exception of type 'Microsoft.SharePoint.SoapServer.SoapServerException' was thrown. Parameter webUrl is missing or invalid. ErrorCode: 0x82000001

    Note: I have added the header in following way:

          Map<String, List<String>> headers =
            (Map<String, List<String>>) client.getRequestContext().get(Message.PROTOCOL_HEADERS);

         if (null == headers)
         {
             headers = new HashMap<String, List<String>>();
         }

         headers.put("X-FORMS_BASED_AUTH_ACCEPTED", Arrays.asList("f"));

         client.getRequestContext().put(Message.PROTOCOL_HEADERS, headers);

    One thing I have observed here is the request being sent is as follows which has SOAPAction as GetWeb, but the API being called is GetWebCollection. How can this happen?

     POST /_vti_bin/Webs.asmx HTTP/1.1\r\n
    SOAPAction: "http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/soap/GetWeb"\r\n
    X-FORMS_BASED_AUTH_ACCEPTED: f\r\n

        xmlns:soap="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/">
        <soap:Body>
            <GetWebCollection
                xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/soap/"/>
            </soap:Body>
        </soap:Envelope>
