Problems after installing SSDT September release RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Ive been running fine on SSDT for months,  ive now installed the september release but it didnt work.  Complaining that the sqlpackage profile package cannot be loaded.

Ive uninstalled VS2010 , reinstalled , added sp1 and then the spetember SSD release but still getting the same issue.

In the activitylog.xml im seeing the error

    cannot load type 'Microsoft.Data.Tools.Schema.Utilities.SQL.Common.ISqlHostShutdownService from assembly Microsoft.Data.Tools.Schema.Utilities.sql.10, version 10.3.0.0 , Culture=neutral, publickeytoken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a'

    Any ideas ??

    Dave

  • @Dave - Thank you for sending us the details we requested. Unfortunately our suggestions to fix this issue did not work for you. However, we will continue to look for a repro of this issue. Feel free to contact me directly for anything on this issue.

Below is our suggestion to fix this issue:

      • Verify that the version of assemblies under <ProgramFiles>\Microsoft SQL Server\110\DAC\bin is 11.1.2807.
      • If not, can you uninstall both the packages “Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Data-Tier App Framework” in Add/Remove programs. After uninstallation ensure that there are no binaries unders above location (step 1).
      • Install SSDT again to install the package in step 2.

    Thanks,

  • Hi Dave,

Can you recreate your ActivityLog.xml file and send it to me at vikrant.arora[at]microsoft.com. In order to create the ActivityLog.xml file, please use the following steps:

      • Close all VS Instances
      • Delete ActivityLog.xml file from the location where it is getting created.
      • From command prompt, go to dir <PROGRAM FILES>\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\Common7\IDE
      • Run 'devenv /ResetSkipPkgs'
      • Open VS by running 'devenv /log'
      • Verify you are getting the error
      • Close VS and send your ActivityLog.xml file.

    Thanks,
