deployment to a remote machine RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,
We can deploy our application to user PCs using click once without issues...
But clickonce deployment to a remote machine which many users login to does not seem to be flexible.
    Question:
Is it possible, to use clickonce to setup an application on a remote machine which users remotely login to?
We tried this but it seems that each user needs access to write to netlogon folder on that remote machine?
    Any suggestions please?

    Thanks

  • Hi arkiboys,

This question is ClickOnce question so I moved it here. I don't think ClickOnce can help you in this scenario. Althought ClickOnce has this advantange:

"Security permissions. Windows Installer deployment requires administrative permissions and allows only limited user installation; ClickOnce deployment enables non-administrative users to install and grants only those Code Access Security permissions necessary for the application."

The ClickOnce still requireds permission if the permission is required. Also ClickOnce do not have that way to run itself remotely on a machine. It do not have that flexible function. You have to at least 1. Have the permission to log on the remote machine 2. Have the permission to install to a folder if it requires permission.

    Best regards,

    Barry
