Stoping Sysprep from creating new user accounts RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I'm currently working on an embedded based set top box. When syspreping the unit, it always creates a new user account. Is there a way of stoping the creation of a new user account and having the system default to the user account I've already built?

    Cheers, Z

  • I have mine create accounts in step P5, also set for autologon.

Do you mean its tendency to blow away the account used for audit mode? That is by design and you shouldn't expect it to survive.

  • When you run sysprep, you need to use an unattended file with the skipuseroobe option enabled. You will also want to put the account information in the unattended file as well. All of this goes into Pass 7. The 2nd edition of my book covers this - http://www.annabooks.com/Book_PGWES7.html
