protected mode elevation for an activex controller RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I am trying to find a way to elevate an activex controller in protected mode IE7 on vista. I see that to elevate an .exe, you can just put a key in HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Low Rights\ElevationPolicy. I tried to do the same for an .ocx, butting the AppPath, AppName, CLSID and Policy (to 3). Unfortunately, this doesn't elevate the application at all. I check the Integrity Level of the application, it's still 1, and all the bugs relating to this are still there.

Has anyone tried successfully to elevate an activex control? Or do I need to produce some rope-and-pulley system of converting it to an .exe launched from a separate wrapper?

    Thanks.
