Hosting a web site in Azure

Question

My customer wants to host a web portal in Azure and they have done a PoC using IaaS. I informed them to use Web Apps but they are scared as it might require refactoring the code. The web site is hosted in the PoC in Linux IaaS VMs.

I would like to know what is the best way to host this website in Azure, i don't want to go the IaaS route and want to use managed services so that scalability responsibilit is taken care of by Microsoft Azure.

Can this web site be hosted in Docker Containers using Web Apps and managed using AKS? Will there be any issue with that?

Also, want to put Web Application Gateway  so that web traffic comes via Application Gateway as App Gateway has lots of features.Can this App Gateway be used with Azure Web Apps also?

Looking forward to some good options for hosting this website.

Yes, you can use Docker Containers on web apps with Kubernetes.

App Gateways do support Web Apps as well. I have put together some resources below, which should hopefully get you going in the right direction.

What kind of app is it? What language/runtime does it use?

For the most part, you don't have to rewrite your app. You can easily lift and shift your app to App Service.
