  • To add what Mal has said, there is a shortcut file named "icon" in the Games folder. It's hidden and you can explore it with activesync. The content of the file is like:
      1#shellres.dll,-8229

    The shortcut points to an icon (whose index is -8229) in the shellres.dll. The following thread may help you change the icon for a Windows Mobile folder in the same way:

  • Hi,

    Thanks for the suggestions.
    I found another way to do this.
    The icon change can be done by changing the below registry.
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Shell\StartInfo\Start\<Your Folder or file>]
    "Name"="<Name to be displayed >"
    "Icon"="\Windows\<Image to be displayed as icon>"

    The above registry path is for the folder in Programs folder.

    Thanks,
