  • How to create icon files for my visual basic projects.

GIMP - the GNU Image Manipulation Program is pretty nice also. It's free and can save images in a fairly large number of ways including Microsofts .Ico format.

Please BEWARE that I have NO EXPERIENCE and NO EXPERTISE and probably onset of DEMENTIA which may affect my answers! Also, I've been told by an expert, that when you post an image it clutters up the thread and mysteriously, over time, the link to the image will somehow become "unstable" or something to that effect. :) I can only surmise that is due to Global Warming of the threads.

  • Hi,

I am not sure if you mean that you want to download some editors or if you want to create icons with your VB application. Here are 2 you can try. I have used both and they are not to bad for not having to pay for them.

Here is an open source icon editor

    Greenfish Icon Editor Pro 3.31

Here is a Shareware icon editor. It has been a while since i installed my older version but, it probably will ask if you want to download something else. You can usually opt out.

    IcoFX 2.6

However, if this is about creating icons with your app then there are a few classes you can download and try that i posted some links to in this thread the other day.

Is there anyway to get the icon of a selected program?

  • Hi Malik,

I think this thread is specific to VB.NET forum. So I am helping you to move this thread directly into that forum. Thank you for your understanding.
