There is a problem I had a document library in sharepoint where i uploaded some pdf files.

These pdf files open in same browser as that of the site. i don't have acrobat reader installed n i don't want to install it.

What is the method to get the pdf file open in new browser. what steps i had to follow.

    Please reply soon.

    Thanks

  • I believe I have to disappoint you: opening pdf files depends on the software installed on the client and so you cannot preconfigure it on the server. Of course you could manipulate the response headers to trick the browser and tell it it's something else it's downloading, but in general it's not the best thing to do.
If you want to be able to display a pdf in browser you would have to have a control which would do that: something comparable to the one displaying Excel sheets in MOSS 2007. Unfortunately I don't know of one for displaying PDF's.
