How do you override styles? RRS feed

  • Question

  •

Using EW 2 with VS 08 in APS.net web site...

in CSS Properties window (upper left) there are two columns as follows:

    Applied Rules

    ...

    #mainwrapper <div#mainwrapper>

    #copy            <div#copy.broadpage>

all the class broadpage does is change the left margin, so I would expect that the left margin in #copy would be overridden by the class broadpage, but it is not.  How do you override styles?  A pretty basic question, but I am missing something.

    Thanks

  • You have a div that is both id=copy and class=broadpage.  There is no reason to assume the left margin setting in the #copy style will be overridden by the margin setting in .broadpage.  Knowing only what you've shown, the reverse would be true: the ID's margin would take precedence over the class's margin.  See the references in my reply to your other posts on this.
