Error: Unable to Save Data RRS feed

  • Question

  • VS2012 Update 3, SL client.   I have a deployed 3-tier web application.  The data loads, but there is an error when trying to add or update records.   The error message reads: Unable to Save Data.  An error occurred while processing this request.  After closing the error message, the data is saved but the screen is still dirty.  Trying to save again causes a concurrency error followed by the same error message.  This only happens in a deployed application, everything is fine while debugging in VS2012.  Originally I thought this was only happening in Chrome but it is happening in IE as well.  I attached the debugger to the running application with all exceptions checked, and nothing.  Any ideas?

  • After hours of trying all kinds of crazy refactoring it turns out the issue was that the published application URL is case sensitive!!  You must enter your URL exactly as it appears in IIS settings.  So if the URL is:

"somedomain.com/MyApp/Client/" and you type in the browser: "somedomain.com/myapp/client/", you get the "Unable to Save Data" error.  When the URL is typed accurately everything works great.

Thanks for your responses guys. Hope this helps someone.

  • Does it happen systematically on all screens in your app?

  • Strange,

Tried to change the url and it still work.

Don't know why this occurs in your app.

    Both client and mobile?

    Regards

  • The URL issue only throws an error on deployed SL client web application.  In debug the URL is not case sensitive.
