Mechanism to run a exe depending upon build result RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

I have a requirement where I need to monitor (check) for 9 build definition results. If any of the build definition succeeds or fails, I want to run another exe. If the build definition is still running, then I want to wait till I get results. So what is the best mechanism to achieve this functionality ? If I wait for long time, the exe will get time out (I believe) which should not happen.

    Kindly waiting for your response.

  • This is the C# forums. You are talking about build definitions which sounds like an Azure DevOps thing. Please clarify what you mean by build definition and exactly what process you're talking about. If this is Azure DevOps related then this is the wrong forums. You'll need to post over in their forums.

  • Thanks for the response.

But I am looking for general behavior if exe takes more time, will it time out?

If so, how can I avoid it ?

  • Ms build has no timeout rules. Builds can take hours if necessary.
