Bing Map tokens rejected for India map RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have an Enterprise (paid) Bing Map account, so we request tokens and attach them to the map requests to get premium services like Track and History.
For India, Microsoft suggested to use a different URL, namely  http://dev.mapindia.live.com/mapcontrol/mapcontrol.ashx?v=6.2

The problem is though that requests to that URL with regular tokens attached are rejected by the service and the map is not displayed.
Microsoft support responds to our claims that "would not expect the token mechanism to integrate reliably with the India version of the map control, as it is generally not supported as part of our worldwide Bing Maps licensing agreements".

Does that mean that the whole token mechanism doesn't work for India? What about Track and History services, are they available?

  • I've just tested the India api with client tokens and it loaded fine. I saw no errors. I would not expect the Bing Map Application keys to work as this is a seperate API that was not created by the main Bing Maps development group. As the support team stated this API along with the Chinese API have limited support as they are not maintained by the main development team. This aside, what errors are you seeing? Can you post the code block your using to load your map and set the token?
