Auto-Categorize Open Task RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I'd like to set something up, so that when  I open a task, it is automatically categorized as a specific category. The purpose of this is that sometimes when I edit tasks, (add notes, change start date, etc.) I am rushed and I do not get type properly. I'd like all of the tasks that I save changes to, to be categorized as "Editing" then when I go back and fix it, I will manually uncategorize it.

  • You can either customize the Task form to include the Category by default, or write code to monitor the Inspectors.NewInspector event and auto-add the Category to new TaskItem objects.  For the latter event, the Inspector object is passed as an argument and you can check Inspector.Class to make sure you only work with TaskItem objects, and use Inspector.CurrentItem to get a handle on the TaskItem object and set TaskItem.Categories.
