well, to go ahead with this, you need to know the pre-requisites for installing MOSS 2007 on windows 2008.
The basic requirement is MOSS 2007 along with SP1 needs to be installed. You cannot install 1st MOSS 2007 and then apply SP1...
try this linkhttp://ppalakollu.blogspot.com/2008/02/moss-2007-on-windows-2008.html
hope this helps..Wednesday, December 16, 2009 3:12 PM -
> The basic requirement is MOSS 2007 along with SP1 needs to be installed.Close but not close enough. The correct answer is that MOSS 2007 along with *SP2* needs to be installed. As this isn't available as a download, it needs to be created by slipstreaming MOSS+SP1 with WSS 3.0 SP2 and MOSS SP2.

Hey Mike,What is meant by splitstream? I am a starter in this share point. Don't mind if this question sounds dumb.Wednesday, December 16, 2009 3:34 PM

Slipstream. It's not the easiest thing in the world to do so I won't try to describe in detail how to do it here but suggest you Google for a blog item (or MS article) describing how to do it (or just wait for someone to post a couple of links to this thread). In essence you create yourself by mixing the original source code for three things- MOSS incl SP1- WSS 3.0 SP2- MOSS SP2together a set of files so that the installation routine installs in effect MOSS incl SP2 rather than installing first MOSS incl SP1 and then adding the two SP2s on top.Windows Server 2008 *R2* rejects in that case the initial MOSS incl SP1

I am following the same steps and using the same command as shown in http://blogs.technet.com/seanearp/archive/2009/05/20/slipstreaming-sp2-into-sharepoint-server-2007.aspx. But after I run the command, my updates folder must be filled with .msp file, but it is empty.Thursday, December 17, 2009 5:01 PM
