visual studio 2013 platform builder RRS feed

  • Question

  • Well, everyone on the team uses visual studio 2013.

That said, when I run the windows embedded compact 2013 installer, it only gives me the option to install the platform builder for visual studio 2015.

How do I get the installer to install the platform builder for visual studio 2013?

Based on the screen shots in the installation instructions from the team, it looks like the february 2017 installer can install the visual studio 2013 platform builder.  But, on my machine, it tells me to install the visual studio 2015 platform builder.

So it looks like the wec 2013 installer sees that I have visual studio 2015 on my machine and is pushing the upgrade?

Is it possible to tell the wec 2013 installer to install the visual studio 2013 version of the platform builder instead?

    1. uninstall VS2015
    2. install VS2013 (if not already installed)
    3. install WEC2013
    4. install VS2015

  • not the cleanest solution, but that should work.

given that we're using VS2017, these days, it might be OK to use VS2013 and VS2017 and forget about VS2015.
