How to tell version of Windows 2009 Embedded being run? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am brand new to Windows Embedded 2009 (via a customer). How can I tell what version of 2009 Embedded the customer is running?  In particular is it Standard or POS?  The typical version query (VER) reports it as Windows 7 x86 Version 6.1.7601.

    Thanks.

  • Windows Embedded Standard 2009 is really Windows XP Embedded renamed. If you are typing "ver" at the command prompt and getting back Version 6.1.7601, this is not WES2009/XP Embedded. What you have is Windows Embedded Standard 7. http://www.gaijin.at/en/lstwinver.php

  • Thanks for the heads up. The customer insists it is Windows Embedded 2009, but the VER command does not lie.

  • If you have access to control panel, you can go to the System Control Panel and see the OS version.
