Trying to get detailes of client rules that use public folders but no luck RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I'm trying to use the EWS API to access client side rules details (Exchange 2010).

I can get all the details fro regular rules, but when I'm trying to get details for a rule that forwards mail to a public folder, the InboxRule only contains the rule's name, rest of the members are empty.

    any suggestions?

  • EWS only offers a subset of whats available with Outlook Client rules, with the Rule operations you can't really do anything to adjust what is or isn't being returned you can enable tracing to see the full output from the server. You might want to consider using MAPI via a third party library like redemption http://www.dimastr.com/redemption/RDOFolder.htm which should work.

The only other thing with EWS you could do would be to read the Rule extended properties from the Rule objects stored in the FAI collection of the Inbox you should be able to use the protocol doc https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc463893(v=exchg.80).aspx and a MAPI Editor like MFCMapi or OutlookSpy to help with that.

    Cheers

No Redemption needs a Mapi provider that can be either Outlook or Standalone Mapi client but you need to access Rules Table on the Server as well as the extended rule objects.

EWS will always access the server
