LINQ performance good, but databinding slow RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm using a 3rd party library for the controls, but I found this problem persisted even with the standard MS controls.

On each form, I have a DataBindingSource and I bind it to an entity.  I've gone over several different forums and it seems the problem has to do with reflection and simply being natively slow.  I really enjoy the simplicity of using it, but the problem comes when I load the form it takes 5-20 seconds to finish the databind.  No user would be willing to accept that kind of performance.

And I'm not necessarily talking about ComboBoxes or ListBoxes.  The entire data bind process is very, very slow.  And it's not a complex database either.  Maybe 8 tables and less than 300 rows.

Are there any optimizations someone can suggest to improve this process?  Or is this basically what we need to expect when binding to a LINQ entity or query?
