Sample Data crashes my project when I run it and then navigate to a page using the data RRS feed

  • Question

  • It seems that any sample data collection I create in my WPF is somehow error-ridden. My whole project builds just fine as long as I don't include sample data, but when I create a new data collection and apply it to a navigation/component screen, the project still builds just fine, but when I navigate to the page, I encounter the error message:

"A design-time error was detected in the prototype.

Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation."

Does anyone know where to even start to try to fix this problem?

  • Is this an issue you're having with all sample data in all projects, or is it an issue you're having in this particular project?

As far as tracking down design-time exceptions, I personally hunt those down in Visual Studio. Blend is an excellent design tool, but VS is a debugging tool. I would open your project up in Visual Studio and run it from there. Usually you can see the location of the exception being thrown and work back from there.
