RTM Known Issue: SecondaryTile ShowNameOnWide310x150Logo returns incorrect value RRS feed

  • Question

  • Retrieving the value from a secondary tile's VisualElements.ShowNameOnWide310x150Logo property returns the incorrect value. It actually returns the ShowNameOnSquare150x150Logo value! Note that setting the value still works correctly, so the tile appears on Start correctly.

    // Create a new secondary tile
    SecondaryTile tile = new SecondaryTile();
    // Set Medium to true
    tile.VisualElements.ShowNameOnSquare150x150Logo = true;
    // Set Wide to false
    tile.VisualElements.ShowNameOnWide310x150Logo = false;
    // Retrieve value of Wide
    return tile.VisualElements.ShowNameOnWide310x150Logo;
    // EXPECTED: Returns false (what we set it to)
    // ACTUAL: Returns true (what Medium is set to)

  • Status: Fixed for TH2 (fixed in build 10567)

    Workaround: There is no simple workaround. If you depend on retrieving the ShowNameOnWide310x150Logo property from your secondary tiles, we would recommend storing the property value in your app's own data when you pin the tile (your app is setting the property, thus your app knows what the property's value is).

    It's important to note that setting the ShowNameOnWide310x150Logo property works correctly. It's only retrieving the value that is broken. So you can still pin a secondary tile and your app's display name on the wide tile will appear correctly!
