How to move project to new folder (or rename folder) RRS feed

  • Question

  •

I need to change the name of the folder that a project is in:

I renamed the Project from OLD.vbproj to New.vbproj but I want to rename the folder as well from OLD to NEW so that it's organized nicely  (i.e., I know what folder  NEW.vbproj is in).

What's the recommended way to do this?

  • You can also go to the Open Project Dialog

Right Click on the Folder Containing your project and select rename.

This renames the folder and then you can simply click into the folder and click you project / Solution file.

Likewise you can select the folder - Right Click, Copy , Paste

Then you'll have a folder which will say copy of xxxxxxxxxx  - then simply rename it to what you want to call the new folder.

  • As far as I know, you'll pretty much need to rename the folder by hand and then rebuild.  You can then update anything (e.g. reference paths) that gives you an error as a result.
