Student dev account verification - no charge

Question

Hey,

I created a dev account with dreamspark student promo code. It asked my to verify using a credit card, by making a small charge. I've already waited 3 days for the charge to appear on my bank account, is it normal? I use that card successfully to buy thinkgs in online shops, and it alse works immediately in Steam, Google Wallet etc. 

Is it possible that the payment was somehow canceled but I was not informed? How long do people normally wait for credit card verification?

Also, the support link on dev account does not work (500 internal server error).

Hey KBurlins,

A small amount should be debited from your account, if you are not able to proceed with your application process, then you can try with some other card.

For me Rs. 2(Indian Money), is charged.

No need to wait for it for days...it will just happen in few seconds like normal transaction.

So, try with some other credit/debit card and ensure that you are able to proceed with your application process.

Yes, It happens in no time. I was charged Rs. 2.
But i didn't get any verification code in my billing statement.
And I wasn't asked for it in my dashboard.
Is it normal ??

You have to prove as a student, then only you will get the verification code.

One way, you can get through is,

In order for us to get you verified, please provide us the following documents and we can manually verify your student status:

1) A scanned copy of your student ID.

2) A scanned copy of your current transcript or course list.

Please note: If you are under the age of 18, your parent or legal guardian will need to contact us to request permission on your behalf.  They will need to provide a written and signed letter of consent, a scanned copy of their government issued identification card, and proof of your enrollment in school.

If you are home schooled, your parent or legal guardian will need to contact us to request permission on your behalf.  They will need to provide a written and signed letter of consent, a scanned copy of their government issued identification card, and government issued proof of homeschooling.

With this information we will provide you a verification code so that you can proceed with your DreamSpark account.

Why do I need to provide a scan? I am registered in dreamspark, I have access to the software published there for free. Also, I provided the special code generated in dreamspark during the registration for Windows Store. Do I still need to provide more information?

To clear the things - I got the verification code from dreamspark, eventually received the charge on my bank account (took 5 days - be patient guys) and entered the code.  Still not recofnizing me as a dev. 

edit: fixed. Problem was in mismapped accounts - somehow my dreamspark account did not get mapped with the microsoft liveid. After followin n guide/tutorial it all suddenly started working. Issue fixed
