Login Testing RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

I need to run a login load test.  I can simulate profile activity by copying files from/to profile directories, but would like to automate some windows logins to measure the time taken.  Would windows script on a standalone (XP) box work to then connect to a server work, or does anyone have a bettter idea?  Would a Terminal Server Session stress the backend correctly?

  • Hi Chris,

I'd say your best bet would be to run the test simultaneously from several boxes to get the most accurate simulation.  I think that the accuracy will be negatively affected if you just use one box due to thread contention.

As an aside, Infragistics has TestAdvantage for Windows Forms, which makes automating UI tests for WinForms much easier to create and manage.  Depending on how much UI testing you need to do, it might be a good investment for your company.
