Project Server Daily Recap RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi Everyone:

We have just recently switched from Basecamp to Project Server. One of the features our PM wants to is the daily recap report , which include the updates of all projects in a summarized email. I am wondering if there is anything similar that we can set up with project server.

    Thanks in advance,

  • HI Terry,

Congrats first for doing a rite move :) to switch to Project Server.

in your scenario, who is making changes to project plan, if not PM?

First thing you can do in Project Server, that you can limit the access to project plan through Group/Categories/RBS settings, so that only PM or designated resources will be able to make changes to Project plan.

you can also save a baseline of project plan once created, so that you will be able to track any changes in plan after baseline.

and for this you can create a custom SSRS report, which can show any difference between baseline and planned values to show changes in project plan. This report would be dynamic and PM can access to this report during any time of the day to see the changes in plan.

Let us know if this helps you to achieve what you are looking for.

    hope this helps.

  • This can be achieved by SSRS reports with some support of custom fields and calculations.

Updates is too big a term in project context.

What updates ? Is it about change of finish dates, start dates durations, change of resource assignments, work involved, remaining work, etc

We monitor finish date changes at a higher level and continuously communicate if they change .
