[UWP] How to use restricted capabilities in your app?

    Question

  • I am planning a few apps where I need some of the restricted capabilities listed here - https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/apps/mt270968.aspx#special_and_restricted_capabilities

But capabilities like cellularMessaging is only available to Microsoft and its partners.
This capability is not available for company accounts it seems?

Is it possible to become a partner without being an OEM phone manufacturer?

I really like the new Lumia hardware and the UWP concept, and I would hate to have to develop these apps for Android just to get the needed permissions.

  • So what happened? I'm trying to compile the sample using cellularmessaging and it doesn't seem to recognize the NS.
