row level permission in sharepoint list RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I had create a list which have employee name and employee no.

Employee name is People and group type field.

I applied filter on the dataview as current login=employee name

So only the employee wo is loged in can view his entry.

But when that employee click on view for that entry it shws him display.aspx page with details.

Here the URL shows like "?ID=49". If user changed the ID he can view another uesrs details.

How can I restrict user to change the URL ID or to view another users profile in display.aspx page?

Can I apply Row level permissions on this list/data view? How?

  • Setting permission to a list view feature is not available in MOSS 2007. Therefore the only way to achieve you requirement setting the Item level permission. Please go ahead with item level permission.

Note: You can have target audience to the view but it will not suit to your requirement since the number of views are not fixed.

    hope this will help you.

  • He wrote "item level permission" (standard function, so you don't need code) not "row level permission".
