Bluetooth keyboard issue -- no passcode RRS feed

  • Question

  •

My kb stopped working and I removed it on the devices panel. When I try to add it again on the devices panel it finds the Samsung keyboard and prompts me to enter the passcode, but the passcode is missing/blank.  i get the same behavior when adding it via the Bluetooth devices panel.  any suggestions on how to get a passcode?

  • tom.allen,

On the dialog screen where you to enter the passcode, it wants the user to create a passcode.  tap on textbox and onscreen keyboard will show up.  You can enter "0000" and then Enter key for example.  When you tap on Next, it is giving you 10-15 seconds for you to enter same password on Samsung keyboard. After you enter same password within 10-15 seconds, it will pair and you can use keyboard.

Let us know if you able to get it to pair or not.

  • That fixed it.  Thanks, Eric!

By the way, I was expecting the same behavior as when I originally installed the keyboard, where the Devices panel Add Device provided an 8-digit passcode for me.  Before I submitted this issue I got to this same dialog, but there was no passcode, and no text entry field.   Later, I used the Bluetooth panel via the system tray to get to a dialog that had a text entry field.

  • Hi Tom,

The 8-digit passcode is the default experience. If you fail that pairing twice, it will give you the "legacy pairing" UI which is the textbox for your to enter a password on the UI.

    Thanks,

  • I have the same problem however the pairing is still not taking place. I notice that after entering the passcode it says connecting and does not explicitly ask for the passcode on the keyboard. nonetheless I enter same but it just does noot seem to take. I get an error saying the passcode was incorrect and the device failed to add. Any help will be appreciated.

  • I just wanted to add one more discovery to this discussion.  I tried the above, but the PC always told me that the keyboard quit trying.  Ended up that my batteries were too weak!

  •  Thanks for saving <g class="gr_ gr_43 gr-alert gr_gramm Punctuation only-ins replaceWithoutSep" data-gr-id="43" id="43">me</g> Tom. I didn't realize and the prompts are not really clear you're CREATING a code. The assumption is automatically that there is a code and you must enter it.

  • that did work for me on my teclast tablet,  typed on the tablet 0000 enter then 0000 enter on the keyboard itself.  Thanks for your input.  Hate using my tablet without keyboard.

  • I'm interested to know if anyone had my experience. After several attempts at entering 0000 followed by ENTER and not having success, I entered 2909 followed by ENTER, because that was the last four digits that had been presented to me from an earlier attempt. I then entered 2909 on the BT keynoard itself and hit return and it connected. I'm wondering if it really matters what you type in to the first prompt as loing as you repeat it on the BT keyboard?

  • It worked! I used 12345678 ENTER on my laptop keyboard, then typed the same numbers on my Dell Bluetooth keyboard and ENTER. Paired within seconds.

    Thanks!
