KB3072305 still wants to install after KB3142042 - "replaced" update shows up in Windows Update on WES7 32-bit RRS feed

  • Question

  • When making an installation DVD for WES7, I attempt to include all updates that Windows Update would subsequently want.  Recently I added KB3142042.  There are a large number of updates that are directly or indirectly superseded (replaced) by this update.  One of the superseded updates is KB3072305, which now shows up in Windows Update as something that should be installed.

    Aside from the annoyance, my concern is that the older update "fixes" something in a way that either breaks or reverses the effect of KB3142042.  My only question: if this update does install, can it somehow "break" the system in a way that reduces functionality or security?

    The list of relevant supersedures is KB3142042 -> KB3135988 -> KB3099862 -> KB3072305
