kernel mode authentication and 401 error. RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am trying to access a particular web-page, protected by NTLM auth, but I am unable to do so. I am prompted for credentials three time followed by 401 message. OS is windows 2008 R2.

while searching on net I came across two articles which says that, disabling kernel mode authentication will resolve the issue.  I disabled Kernel mode authentication and I am able to access the page. (issue is resolved)

Following are the links which says that kernel mode authentication has to be disabled.

I want to know, whether kernel mode authentication has to be disabled for NTLM auth to work properly.

    Thanks
