Trying to determine if network is cause of issues RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am trying to diagnose a seemingly random latency in Microsoft Point of Sale.  The program is for a register which ties to a SQL database when looking up customers and completing transactions.  Sometimes during the transaction finalization it hangs on a busy cursor for anywhere from 1-30 seconds.  I suspect the problem is a network issue either with latency or possibly dropped / retransmit packets.  I have tried capturing with Network Monitor but haven't found much.  I was hoping to use xperf to help diagnose.  I tried to capture the network group but it doesn't seem to give much detail.  I was hoping to see the timing of requests going to SQL and response times and then correlate them to the program functions.  Is there a way to do this with xperf?  I am using xperf 4.6 on Windows 7 machines.  I have tried reading documentation on xperf but don't see much detail on network latency.
