Argument 'start' must be greater than zero RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi there

I am working on a SSRS 2005 report against a cube. On the table report item, I have multiple groups. I am using an expression as below on textbox and also providing the same expression on the group to which it belongs.

    =iif((Month(Fields!Date.Value) = 1 AND Year(Fields!Date.Value) =2010), MID(Fields!Mail.Value, InStr(Fields!Mail.Value,"LEO")), Fields!Mail.Value)

When I preview it takes some time for rendering but finally i get the message Argument 'start' must be greater than zero.

Not sure why I am getting this error. The error seems to be a generic error and gives me no information where its going wrong. I also searched for word 'start' in .rdl file but could not find any. Surprisingly when I implement the same expression to another report, it works fine.

Please help me in resolving this issue.

  • Check below link:

    To correct this error

    1. Check the spelling of arguments in the expression. A misspelled variable name can implicitly create a numeric variable that is initialized to zero.

    2. Check previous operations on variables in the expression, especially those passed into the procedure as arguments from other procedures.
